Ann Giordano was inspired to make photographs by looking at family photo albums, watching home movies and writing down her dreams. Her images visually explore the narrative using symbolism, motion, color, shadow and light to capture the essence of the subject.
Since 2006 she has made camera-less images for the series, In My Courtyard with a solo exhibition at the Tosei Gallery, Tokyo in September 2013 . And this year, in celebration of Women’s History Month her work from In My Courtyard was featured in the four-woman exhibit, Meaning Making, at the Interchurch Center NYC.
Photographs have also been exhibited at Culture Lab LIC, Printed Matter, The Old Print Shop, Panepinto Galleries, Drawing Rooms, The Light Factory, San Francisco International Airport, James Danziger Gallery, Candace Perich Gallery and the Camera Club of New York. Work is represented in various private and corporate collections, NYPL, MoMA, LA Country Museum, Musée de la Poste and the Smithsonian Archives of American Art. Images have also been featured in Blind Spot, Time Capsule, Kit and Caboodle, LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph and PDN.
Ann lives and works in the New York City area.
